Clothing:

  • Comfortable and functional yoga clothing (whatever that means to you) for warm to hot weather.

  • Plan to bring at least 3 yoga sets (leggings, shorts, tops, etc) for practice as you will likely sweat A LOT.

  • It is HOT in Northern Nicaragua, which means you’ll want to light, breathable clothing that comfortable for lounging or exploring.

  • There’s no “expected dress code” here, so standard beach attire is fine on the beaches.

  • Sleepwear of your choice.

  • Lightweight long sleeve or light sweater in case evenings or mornings are cool.

  • Sarong (useful as a scarf, shawl, blanket, etc). Bring 2-3 if you have them.

  • Hat (suggested wide brim as the sun is STRONG, but a cap will do)

  • Sandals (preferably ones that are comfortable when wet)

  • Closed toed shoes aren’t necessary for our retreat, but if you know you plan on hiking on your own then bring them.

  • Bathing suits (at least 3)

  • Rain jacket or poncho

Dress Standards:

  • As previously noted, standard beach attire is fine when on the beaches (bikinis, shorts, skirts, etc).

  • When you are not on the beach we suggest covering up (shirt and shorts), rather than walking around in only a bathing suit (this applies to men and women).

  • Please note the sun is STRONG, so having lightweight clothes that cover your skin might actually keep you cooler.

 Miscellaneous Items:

  • Yoga mat

*The venue has mats, blocks, straps, and balls. However, if you have a specific mat or props that you like to practice with, best to bring them with you.

  • Surf board (if you have one you can’t live without, otherwise we got you!)

*Let’s do our best to reduce single use plastic!

  • Bug repellent

  • Sunscreen (strong, but chemical free!)

  • Zinc (for the face and lips)

  • SPF chapstick

  • Toiletries of your choice (shampoo, conditioner, soap, razor, lotion, etc)

  • Airport transport is NOT included in your retreat fee. Feel free to arrange your taxi pick up directly through stillsaltyescape@gmail.com.

  • Let them know if you’re carrying surf boards so they can accommodate accordingly with the vehicle.

Meals:

  • All meals are vegan, and most are gluten free.

  • Please make sure to note of any intolerances or allergies upon purchase.

  • Feel free to keep extra snacks in the kitchen. It’s important to keep food out of the room due to ants and other insects.

  • Lunch will be the heartiest meal of the day, and dinner tends to be quite light UNLESS there’s been big surf sessions. Please let us know if you require more or less food than is provided.

Additional Info:

  • This retreat takes place in the dry season in Nicaragua. This month is meant to be mostly dry, but with global warming and climate change- weather is more unpredictable than ever. Overall, it’s HOT (dry heat) all day. Weather tends to be slightly cooler before the sunrises, and heats up quickly. By midday through mid-afternoon, it’s scorching. It cools off again around sunset through the evening. Pack waterproof clothing in case rains come in.

  • The ocean tends to be warm during this time of year, but a rash guard or long sleeve is nice to keep the sun off.

  • Mosquitos can be brutal depending on the person. Make sure to bring covered, lightweight clothing and plenty of bug spray if you’re prone to many bites. Living in nature means insects, they will not hurt you but you will see them around.

  • Please note that rain means that laundry might take a little longer (due to drying). Pack accordingly.

  • Please note that we are staying outside of any major towns. This means it will take about 45 minutes to town (one way). If you forget something, we can always arrange for transport to take to town (additional cost to be paid directly to driver). You can find all toiletry and medical needs in town if needed.

  • Please bring USD and also local currency should you want to purchase anything additional. The closest ATM is about 45 minutes away (one way), so it’s best to have at least a bit of cash on hand.

  • We’d like to do our best to reduce single use plastic. PLEASE BRING A WATER BOTTLE to refill. If you’d like to take it a step further (and you feel comfortable), you can also purchase a LifeStraw to drink any water, anywhere.

***note that GLOW Yoga Retreats does not guarantee the use of LifeStraw, and is not liable nor responsible for any illness that may occur.

  • Ask your doctor or medical advisor about vaccines and/or suggested medication. We do not have any medical professionals on our team to give proper advice regarding medicine and/or vaccines for Peru. It is YOUR CHOICE what you decide to take/get injected.

  • All meals are provided (vegan only), but if you know that you want to keep snacks in the kitchen- please pack them.
